Navigating the Cosmeceutical Market

by Annie Chiu, MD, Joshua Zeichner, MD, FAAD

Annie Chiu, MD discusses cosmeceuticals with DermTube Journal Club Host Josh Zeichner, MD. Acknowledging that the market can be overwhelming for physicians and patients to keep up with, Dr. Chiu says it's important to educate patients about the need for a good sunscreen, retinoid, antioxidant, alpha hydroxy acids, and then specialty ingredients, such as growth factors and anti-redness products. Cosmeceuticals can be expensive and patients may need to be reminded of the benefits of investing in good ingredients, good vehicles, and quality sources. Drs. Chiu and Zeichner also talk about options for the neck, chest, and hands.
